"We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike." ~Maya Angelou

In the midst of the flurry of activity around the building of the new porch ceiling, when sawdust was flying and scrap wood decorated the floor, Uncle Zach took the time to help Brendan build a birdhouse. They made a plan, did some precise measuring and a little sawing and B learned how to work the air hammer; from Bingo bench to air hammer in one afternoon is worthy of note I believe.

They did a little gluing, cut a hole and added the requisite perch and still had time to play with triangles  in there somewhere.

Later in the evening, after Zach, Audra and Zane had hit the road for MO, we garbed up and painted the little house a stunning yellow. Forget the fact that yellow is a color of warning in nature, it is B's new favorite color so we went with it. (I hope he still lies blue too). Notice how I slipped the Tulsa U t-shirt into the shot?

I particularly love it that Brendan has the glove on one hand and is painting with the other one. Maggie had both of her gloves on although B informed me that they were really his gloves but that she could wear them.  So fun! Brent was painting with them  but doesn't happen to be in this picture; he was the drip chaser, as it were, adding that final smoothing that every good paint job needs. Do you see the little twig perch sticking out at the bottom? Ha! Get ready birds, your mansion awaits!
