One of the elements of my blog that has been in the sidebar for years, and will continue to be, is the Astronomy picture of the day. Every once in awhile I draw your attention to it because of the magnificence of these pictures from space. The images are usually composite shots put together from the same image shot through cameras that capture the different wave lengths of the light spectrum. Like this one, for example:
This one is a green ring which is believed to have been shaped by the massive O stars. (If you are familiar with the Green Lantern back story this should ring a bell).
