Kindness and Contentment

The Light of Kindness

Kindness is the coin that pays both the giver and the receiver. It is like leaving oranges for the birds; rarely do we get to share in joy of the feast, but there are only rinds when next we check. That is best, knowing our bent toward self-pride. It is enough to know that they are fed.
We can do small things daily, to gentle the world, and sometimes we can do large things as well. Once in awhile it is even possible to affect great change for good. But it is enough to feed the birds, to comfort a child, to speak hope to one who is alone.
We are but one life, one light, in a world of many lights and great darkness.
